OTHER ISSUES

The Social Concerns Committee is open to recommendations concerning issues not pertaining to its five priorities. These issues are usually addressed for a limited period of time while they are receiving significant public attention.

The committee has made a commitment to tracking and disseminating information about emergency preparedness.  See the resource list below.

The committee is also willing to sponsor forums on topics of general interest.  In May of 2007 it sponsored a very successful forum on Healthcare in California dealing with major proposals in this area.   In August of 2006 it organized a forum dealing with the Liquid Natural Gas terminal proposed to be built in the Long Beach harbor.
