The SCIC is the oldest and largest interfaith council in Southern California. In 1953 the council was first established as an ecumenical council – meaning that it was an organization comprised of only churches representing the various denominations of the Christian faith. But in 2004, with a historical vote made by the community, the council changed from ecumenical one to an interfaith council. The SCIC now has an association of more than 140 faith communities and organizations, encompassing over 35 cities and serving approximately 1.8 million people.

Milia Islam-Majeed was invited to be a guest to talk abou the work of the SCIC on Open Minds – Open Hearts – a progressive interfaith radio talk show that raises voices for a more compassionate and inclusive world. The show has a following of nearly 5000 people a month.

Cyclist Pedaling for Peace: 9th Annual Interfaith Unity Bike-a-thon

The Interfaith Unity Bike-a-Thon brings together individuals of many different cultures and faiths to enjoy a day of social bicycling and great food. Donations help to support the South Coast Interfaith Council and its supporting organizations.
